TADTP at RISE25: Advancing Treatment Courts and Recovery
15/06/2025
From May 28–31, 2025, the TADTP team joined nearly 8,000 justice, treatment, social service, and peer professionals at RISE25, held at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee. This premier event offered unmatched training, networking, and inspiration focused on addiction, mental health, and justice innovation.
What stood out most was the passion and commitment of public health and safety leaders dedicated to expanding treatment and recovery for people impacted by substance use, mental health, co-occurring disorders, and trauma within the justice system.
We were especially honored to hear directly from key leaders of the All Rise movement, including senior consultants Dr. Douglas Marlowe and forensic toxicology consultant Paul Cary, M.S. They shared exciting updates to the Adult Treatment Court Best Practice Standards[1] grounded in decades of research in treatment courts, criminology, and behavioral health. These standards provide a comprehensive blueprint to improve outcomes across all treatment court models. In short, the latest version includes two essential updates: a newly revised standard on drug and alcohol testing and a brand-new standard on community supervision.
This is especially meaningful for TADTP. With support from the CTBC Anti-Drug Educational Foundation, we are currently translating these Best Practice Standards into traditional Chinese. This follows last year’s successful release of the official Chinese translation of Defining Drug Courts: The Key Components (1997). We plan to introduce the translated Standards at the 2025 Taiwan Therapeutic Justice Forum: Towards Integrated Treatment Practices International Forum, providing a vital resource to strengthen Taiwan’s drug treatment court practice and research.
We’re excited to continue providing vital resources to guide Taiwan’s efforts in advancing judicial treatment for individuals with substance use and mental health challenges.
